Veteran-Friendly Dental Care

Veteran Dental Care in Buderim

DVA veteran dental care at Sunny Dental Buderim — the only practice on the Sunshine Coast where both dentists are ex-military veterans. Dr Louis George and Dr Jeremy Collins accept DVA Gold and White cards, understand the barriers many veterans face, and run a practice where service personnel are always welcome.

Two Dentists Who Have Worn the Uniform

This is not a practice that simply ticks a box by accepting DVA cards. Dr Louis George and Dr Jeremy Collins both served in the Australian military before entering civilian dental practice. When you sit in the chair at our Buderim rooms on King Street, you are treated by someone who has worn the uniform — someone who does not need you to translate your experience.

Dr Louis George

Dr Louis served in the Australian military before transitioning to civilian dental practice. He brings that same attention to duty and care for personnel into the treatment room. He has a particular interest in anxious patients and understands that for many veterans, seeking dental care can feel like a significant step — he makes that step as easy as possible.

Dr Jeremy Collins

Dr Jeremy also served before establishing himself as a civilian dentist. His years in the military gave him a direct, no-nonsense approach to patient care and a genuine understanding of what service life does to a person — physically, mentally, and sometimes dentally. He is known for his calm, patient approach with veterans who have been avoiding dental care for years.

What Makes a Veteran-Friendly Practice

No Explanation Needed

You will not need to justify your service history, explain why you avoided dentists for years, or manage a civilian’s awkward questions about the military. Dr Louis and Dr Jeremy get it.

Anxiety Accommodated

We offer happy gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation with a registered nurse on-site. Dental anxiety is common among veterans, and we treat it as a clinical fact — not a character flaw.

DVA Accepted

DVA Gold and White cards accepted. No gap fees for approved DVA services. Our admin team handles the paperwork so you do not have to.

DVA Dental Coverage

DVA Gold Card

Gold Card holders have broad entitlement to dental services including routine check-ups and cleans, fillings, extractions, root canal treatment, crowns, bridges, dentures, and more. Treatment is covered at the DVA fee schedule — no out-of-pocket costs for approved services. Our team at Buderim will confirm your eligibility before your appointment.

DVA White Card

White Card dental entitlement applies to treatment directly related to your accepted service conditions. If you are unsure whether your dental needs may be covered, contact DVA or speak with our practice — we can help you navigate what is and is not included under your card. Veterans from Sippy Downs, Nambour, Palmview, and across the Sunshine Coast are welcome at our Buderim practice.

The Dental Consequences of Service

Years in the field, irregular access to dental care, high stress environments, and medication use can all take a toll on dental health. We see this regularly and treat it without judgement. Whatever condition your teeth are in when you walk through our door at Buderim Village, we will start from where you are now.

Why choose Sunny Dental as a veteran?

Both Dr Louis George and Dr Jeremy Collins served in the Australian military before becoming civilian dentists. They understand the culture of service, the barriers many veterans face when seeking healthcare, and the dental consequences of years spent in the field. You will not need to explain your background — they already understand it.

What dental services are covered under DVA?

DVA Gold Card covers most dental services including check-ups, cleans, fillings, extractions, dentures, crowns, and more. DVA White Card covers dental treatment directly related to accepted service conditions. There are no gap fees for DVA-approved services at Sunny Dental. Contact DVA or our practice for details specific to your card and conditions.

What if I have dental anxiety as well as being a veteran?

Dental anxiety among veterans is more common than many people acknowledge. At Sunny Dental, we offer three levels of sedation — happy gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation with a registered nurse — meaning we can accommodate virtually any level of anxiety. Dr Louis and Dr Jeremy have spent most of their careers helping anxious patients, and veteran patients are always welcomed without judgement.

I have not been to a dentist in years. Is that okay?

Yes — this is actually one of the most common situations we see with veteran patients. Irregular access to dental care during service, followed by years of putting it off, means that many veterans come to us with a significant backlog of dental needs. We will assess everything, prioritise what matters most, and work through treatment at a pace that suits you.

Where is Sunny Dental located?

We are located at 2/64 King Street, Buderim QLD 4556 — close to Buderim Village and easily accessible from Sippy Downs, Mountain Creek, Maroochydore, and surrounding Sunshine Coast suburbs. Ample parking is available. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
