Restore What’s Worn, Cracked or Missing

Crowns, Bridges & Restorations in Buderim

Crowns, bridges, and restorative dentistry at Sunny Dental Buderim rebuild damaged, weakened, or missing teeth with porcelain and zirconia restorations. Dr Louis and Dr Jeremy serve patients across the Sunshine Coast — with sedation available for longer procedures.

Is This You?

You don’t necessarily need a full mouth makeover. You may have specific teeth that need fixing — and you want them dealt with properly, not patched up with another temporary solution.

Worn or Chipped Teeth

Teeth can become worn or chipped over time through everyday use, grinding, or accident. A thorough examination can determine whether this is affecting your comfort or function and what options may help.

Cracked Teeth

A sharp pain when biting down on something hard, or a crack you can feel with your tongue, can indicate a weakening tooth structure. An assessment can determine the extent and discuss appropriate treatment options.

Decay Under Old Restorations

Decay can develop under old fillings or crowns over time. If identified during an examination, your dentist will explain the extent of the issue and the available treatment options to preserve the affected tooth.

Failing Restorations

Fillings, crowns, and bridges wear or loosen over time. Your dentist can evaluate your existing restorations and discuss whether replacement is appropriate — before a failing restoration causes a more significant problem.

Missing Teeth (Implants Not Suitable)

If you’ve lost a tooth and implants aren’t the right option — whether due to bone loss, medical reasons, or preference — a fixed bridge can fill the gap and restore your bite without surgery.

Haven’t Been in a While

It’s never too late to come back. Our team sees patients from Buderim, Sippy Downs, Mountain Creek, and across the Sunshine Coast who have not visited for years. No lectures, no guilt — just a relaxed assessment and a plan.

Crown & Bridge Materials

Modern dental materials offer excellent strength and natural aesthetics. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate material based on the tooth’s location, your bite, and your preferences.

Porcelain Crowns

All-porcelain crowns offer excellent aesthetics and can be closely matched to your natural tooth colour. They are a popular choice for front teeth where appearance is a priority. See our porcelain crowns page for more information.

Zirconia Crowns

Zirconia is an extremely strong ceramic material suitable for both front and back teeth. It is tooth-coloured and highly resistant to fracture, making it a durable long-term option for heavily loaded teeth such as molars.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal

A metal substructure with a porcelain outer layer. This combination provides strength and a natural appearance. It remains a reliable option in certain clinical situations. Your dentist will advise on the most appropriate material for your tooth.

How It Works

No surprises. No pressure. Just a clear process from assessment to completion.

1

Assessment

Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy will examine the teeth in question thoroughly with digital X-rays and a clinical exam. They’ll explain what they find in plain language and discuss the available options before any decisions are made.

2

Treatment Plan

You’ll receive a written plan that sets out what needs doing, why, in what order, and what it will cost. No pressure to commit on the day — take the plan home, think about it, call with questions.

3

Treatment

Crowns and bridges typically require two appointments. Treatment can be staged across visits if needed. Sedation — including happy gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation with our Registered Nurse — is available for every appointment.

4

Ongoing Maintenance

Regular check-ups keep your restorations in good condition for years to come. Your dentist will monitor crowns, bridges, and fillings at each visit — catching any issues before they become bigger problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a crown take?

A crown typically requires two appointments over about two weeks. At the first visit, your dentist prepares the tooth and fits a temporary crown. The permanent crown is custom-made in a dental lab and cemented at the second appointment. Each visit is usually around an hour.

What’s the difference between a crown and a filling?

A filling replaces a limited amount of lost tooth structure. A crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth — like a cap. When a tooth is too cracked, worn, or extensively damaged for a filling to provide adequate support, a crown restores its full strength and shape.

What materials are used for crowns?

Common options include porcelain, zirconia, and porcelain-fused-to-metal. Porcelain and zirconia are tooth-coloured and offer a natural appearance. Zirconia is particularly strong and is often used for back teeth. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate material based on the tooth’s location, your bite, and your priorities.

When is a bridge used instead of an implant?

A bridge may be recommended when the jawbone is not suitable for an implant, when medical reasons make implant surgery inadvisable, or when the teeth on either side of the gap already need crowns. Your dentist will explain which option makes more sense for your situation.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

With proper care and regular check-ups, crowns and bridges typically last 10 to 15 years — often longer. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, diet, and whether you grind your teeth. Regular maintenance visits help identify any issues early.

Do I need a referral?

No referral needed. Call us directly on (07) 5445 8400 to book an assessment. We see patients from Buderim, Sippy Downs, Mountain Creek, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, and across the Sunshine Coast.
