Family Dentistry
Family Dentist in Buderim
One practice for the whole family — from a child’s first check-up to a grandparent’s next clean. Dr Louis George and Dr Jeremy Collins take an unhurried, gentle approach with every patient who sits in the chair, whatever their age.
One Practice, Every Generation
Finding a family dentist usually means finding somewhere everyone in the household is comfortable — the six-year-old having their first check-up, the parent squeezing in an appointment between work and school pick-up, and the grandparent who has worn dentures for twenty years and just wants someone who will listen. At Sunny Dental Buderim, all of that happens under one roof on King Street, with the same two dentists getting to know your family over time.
Unhurried 50-Minute Appointments
Good dentistry takes time — it is the philosophy the whole practice is built on. A new patient visit runs for 50 minutes with Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy, not the rushed 15-minute slot common at high-volume clinics. That extra time means a proper conversation about your history, a thorough examination, and space to ask questions, whether you are bringing in a toddler or coming in yourself after years away from the dentist.
Gentle Care for Kids
Children are welcomed from their very first tooth. We take a slow, familiar approach for young patients — explaining what is happening in plain terms, letting them explore the chair, and never rushing a nervous child through treatment. Families across Buderim, Sippy Downs, and Mountain Creek bring their children in for check-ups, fissure sealants, and fluoride as part of the same visit pattern as the adults in the household.
Bring the Grandkids Too
Buderim has a large number of long-standing, older residents, and many of our patients are grandparents who bring the grandkids along when they visit — whether for a school holiday check-up or an unplanned knock to a front tooth. There is no need to find a separate paediatric clinic. If your grandchildren are staying in Buderim, Forest Glen, or anywhere nearby, we are happy to see them alongside you.
Understanding for Nervous Adults
It is common for one member of a family to be relaxed about the dentist while another has avoided it for years out of anxiety or a difficult past experience. We see this often, and we do not judge it. Dr Louis and Dr Jeremy both have significant experience with anxious adult patients, and take the same unrushed, explain-as-we-go approach with a nervous parent or grandparent as we do with a nervous child.
Continuity Matters for Families
When the same two dentists see your whole family over years rather than months, they build up a real picture of your history — which teeth have needed work before, who is prone to sensitivity, who needs a bit more time in the chair. Dwi George, our practice manager and a registered nurse, also gets to know families by name at reception. That continuity is harder to find at large corporate clinics where the dentist changes each visit.
Starting as a New Patient
Every new patient — child or adult — starts with the same thorough first visit. It is $249 and includes a scale and clean, dental X-rays, and a comprehensive 50-minute check-up with Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy. This is a standing fee, not a limited-time offer, and it does not expire. If further treatment is needed, it is explained and quoted separately before any work goes ahead, so there are no surprises for the next family member who books in.
Scale & Clean
A thorough professional clean to start your family’s dental record on the right foot.
Dental X-Rays
Digital X-rays reveal decay and bone changes that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Comprehensive Check-Up
A full 50-minute examination and conversation with Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy — no rushing.
Comfort Options for Every Family Member
Not everyone in a family needs the same level of support in the chair. We offer three levels of sedation, so whether it is a child who needs a little extra comfort or an adult who has put off treatment for years out of fear, there is an option that fits.
Happy Gas
Nitrous oxide sedation is a gentle, well-established option often used with children and mildly anxious adults. It wears off quickly and you can drive yourself home afterwards.
Oral Sedation
A tablet taken before your appointment for a deeper level of relaxation, suited to adults with more significant dental anxiety or longer procedures.
IV Sedation
For the deepest level of comfort, IV sedation is delivered with Dwi George, our registered nurse, present throughout your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you treat the whole family, from young children to grandparents?
Yes. Sunny Dental Buderim welcomes patients of every age, from a child’s first visit through to long-standing patients in their eighties and nineties. Dr Louis and Dr Jeremy both see children and adults, so many families book appointments across generations on the same day at our King Street practice.
How long is a family appointment at Sunny Dental?
New patient visits run for 50 minutes with Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy, covering a scale and clean, dental X-rays, and a comprehensive check-up. We deliberately do not rush appointments — our approach is that good dentistry takes time, whether the patient is six years old or ninety.
What does the new patient first visit cost?
The new patient first visit is $249 and includes a scale and clean, dental X-rays, and a comprehensive 50-minute check-up with Dr Louis or Dr Jeremy. This is a standing fee, not a limited-time offer, and any further treatment identified during the visit is quoted separately before you agree to proceed.
My grandchildren are visiting from out of town — can you see them?
Yes. We regularly see grandchildren visiting Buderim, Sippy Downs, and the wider Sunshine Coast, whether it is a routine check-up while they are in town or an unexpected knock or chip that needs attention. Call our reception team on (07) 5445 8400 and we will do our best to fit them in.
Do you offer sedation for anxious children and adults?
Yes. We offer three levels of sedation — happy gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation with a registered nurse on staff — so both nervous children and adults who have avoided the dentist for years have options that suit their situation. Your dentist will discuss what is appropriate at your appointment.
Do you accept health fund rebates for the whole family?
Yes. Sunny Dental accepts all major health funds and is a Bupa Members First provider, which means higher rebates for Bupa members. We have HICAPS available for on-the-spot claims, so you only pay the gap on the day — useful when booking several family members in at once. DVA Gold and White card holders are also welcome.
